Trezor.io/start: set up your Trezor wallet, step by step

What the official page does, how to work through it safely, and what the device will ask of you.

The address

What actually happens at trezor.io/start

It is not a download and not an account. The page runs a guided flow: it tells you which app to install, walks the device through its firmware, and hands you a wallet whose keys never leave the hardware. Type the address in yourself rather than following a link.

  • password

Your seed is generated on the device screen, never in the browser.

  • verified_user

No site or support agent will ever ask you to type those words.

  • warning

A lookalike domain is the only thing between you and a drained wallet.

Step by step

How to set up your Trezor wallet

Twenty minutes, one cable, and the card from the box. Nothing here needs an account or an email address.

1

Check the packaging

Inspect the seal before you connect anything. A box that has been opened should go back to the seller.

2

Open the official start page

Type trezor.io/start into a fresh browser window and follow the installer for your model.

3

Install the firmware

Connect the device with the cable from the box and let it install the current firmware.

4

Create a new wallet

Choose Create new wallet. The device generates the seed itself, not the page on your screen.

5

Write the seed down

Write all twenty-four words in order on the card provided and keep that card offline.

6

Set a PIN and install Suite

Pick a PIN you can repeat from memory, then install Trezor Suite to see your accounts.

Security

Nobody legitimate will ever ask for your recovery seed.

Anyone who does is trying to take your funds. Write the words on paper, keep that paper offline, and type them into the device only when you are restoring one.

Everyday use

How to use your Trezor once it is set up

Six actions cover almost everything you will ever do with the device. In each one, the device screen has the final word.

download

Receive crypto

Open Suite, choose the account, then check the address against the device screen.

send

Send crypto

Enter the destination and amount, then confirm on the device. What it shows is what gets signed.

account_balance_wallet

Check your balances

Connect the device to sync your accounts. Suite reads public data while your keys stay offline.

history

Restore to a new device

Your seed rebuilds every account on a replacement device, so losing one is not the end.

key

Switch on a passphrase

An optional extra word hides a second wallet behind the first. Forget it and you see the empty one.

update

Keep it updated

Install firmware and Suite updates when the app offers them, never from a link elsewhere.
